gwamm in gw2 benefit
Hi on my monk i got 26 titles max just the 3 money ones and kurz to go, but was just wondering before i spend X hours on these what the likely benefit will be in GW 2.
I think for the pvp title high ranks there should be some sort of decent benefit too as it separate the noob players in gw 1 who aren't able to max loads of titles and the better GW players who can.
I think they have a thing like this in battlefield to show who played 1st game.
I guess tormented weapons + elite armour = the same weapons and armour in gw2 but it'd be nice to get something decent in gw2 for the time put in on titles

well, the first thing you have already assumed is that people wont sell thier high end accounts to noobs for Gw2. this then means that even people with the great ranks could be noobs. torm weapons and elite armour from what i have read will be able to be worn on new chars in GW2 just to show that you did play the origonal game.
and tbh noobs can get GWAMM just from buying gold lol. personaly i dont rate titles anymore as anyone can get them with little to no effort. hope that that answered some of your questions.

Having maxed titles doesn't make you any better than any random person.

As Everyone should be able be equal even when played or not gw1. so i think its just for looks etc. you get some title or some glowing aura etc for things in hom, and no matterwhat you got there, like destroyer & torments just to show..
Think about it, ppl who did put kanaxai etc for hom.
Would be way better then ppl who only did put example Whiptail?
It wouldnt be fair,
ppl who didnt have change for someting in gw1, couldnt be as good as some lucky ppl who did.
Its like, you borned to be good or bad,

I think too many people are placing too much significance on the HoM. Player hype can not possibly equal the result. If you really want to know whether the titles are worth getting based solely on what transfers from the HoM, wait until GW 2 comes out to see what benefit, if any, there is. ANet has said you'll be able to update the HoM after GW2 is released.
None of us knows what any of the benefits may be.

That is false. ANet have stated repeatedly that no items will transfer.
More titles doesn't make you better at GW, and less doesn't make you "noob."

TBH and IMO titles mean little if not nothing in PvE as it just means you spend the time to grind through the game X hours for X times. In PvP titles do matter, the pvp ones anyway, as that "usually" means that you have played the game in the PvP scene for a while and should know what you are doing. And while yes high ranked accounts have been sold and bought any of the decent players that are still around will know that you don't know jack-sh#@ in the first 5 minutes of playing with you.
As for items, it is still mixed in weather or not it transfers but tbh I think anet said somehting about it not happening.

tbh, you get nothing. maybe a lil title saying 'i played gw1 (1)' they cant give you anything to separate past players from people who just pick up gw2. that would ruin the game before it starts. plus all those max titles mean basically nothing with all the op pve only skills/bought titles. it doesnt mean youre better than anyone. so youre saying a person that plays only one char and grinds all the titles (which had the grind amount reduced because of qq) makes them better than someone that has one of each class with kind of a big deal on each, or a person that just pvps but doesnt have any of the pvp(skill?) titles maxed? the best players know how to play every class the way the class was intended (no pve skills).
everyone who expects there to be something besides a little title under their lvl 1 character is gonna be disappointed. gw2 is a different game than gw1. therefore there is a new fresh start, there wont be preconceived elitism/hierarchy of players. yes players with good guilds probably have contact outside of gw so they will be able to reuinite.
the HoM was a very good publicity/selling trick on the part of arena net and ncsoft. its given people are reason to be excited about gw and play again. given people a desire to buy gw2 and stay interested in gw1 till 2 comes out. its nothing more. arena net runs a business, and the HoM made them money.

It will be a mini pet or some piece of crap I predict. But what do you expect? The games are not really a part of each other at all. Creating big rewards for the last game is just going to alienate the new audience which will probably be bigger than the old one.

You should stop now. 26 of 29 is so much cooler that 29/29.
It really sucks for your OCD that 29 is an odd number. Wouldn't a nice round 30 make you sleep better at night?

w/e it is, it will be something that does not give one player a significant advantage over others. that is all that is known.

I believe there will be just:
1 special title, like "Descendant of Legend" with a few ranks depending on your "Honor" monument completion
1 special armor set for every character class
2 sets of weapons
1 special companion
1-3 special minipets

The only thing anyone here can do is speculate what "perks" one gets by adding things/titles to their HoM. Those perks could include things like glowey hand (Proph. CE thing), special weapon skins, or maybe unique armor sets. But, as Eragon said, whatever GW2 content is unlocked via the HoM, it won't give any player any advantage over people who don't have it unlocked.

I find it humorous to see all these people talking about getting a life, not grinding, being noob or not being a noob, being good or bad at the game, while sitting on a website dedicated to the same game. You're already a head above most of the playerbase in geekiness just because you're on this forum about a game while not playing the game. So, do yourselves a favor and drop the act that you're not as nerdy, not as addicted, not as prone to grind in the game because even if you quit playing the game, it's still in your mind because you're on here talking about it.
That said: Nobody yet knows the benefits that the HOM will have in GW2, if any. I'm thinking it'll be a special set of armor or weapons and a special minipet, and a title. Stuff that really has no bearing on basic gameplay, just something to show off. that's all the HOM is about anyway: showing off your accomplishments. What you have done, what you have collected/bought, what you HAVE. Nothing in the HOM specifically increases your ability to play the game at the basic level. It's all about looks and vanity.

Lets look at the psychology of the Hall of Monuments.
First and foremost it promotes:
1) having all 3 Campaigns
2) Playing through all 3 Campaigns with a minimum of 1 toon
3) GOLD sinks such as armor and weapons - you can craft these
4) give the player a sense of accomplishment that they have spend 2,000 hours playing the same game - that's half of the time to apprentice for an electrician by the way
5) Habit Forming. We are told that if we do something for 6 seeks straight then our minds get programed to do so and makes it harder to stop
The Biggest thing that the Hall of Monuments give us is HOPE!!
Hope that there will be a better game than the first. Hope that we will get something for our efforts. Hope that the time we wasted was well worth the effort. Hope for a future and a leg up on everyone else.
Hers's Hoping that my almost 3,000 hours of Death Leveling were worth it

26 + "3 money titles" + "and Kurz" = 30. I think the OP has the OCD covered, but I'm sure he's touched by your concern for his ability to sleep comfortably.
